“An Apple a day keeps the doctor away.” - especially if it’s a Polished Apple Award winning school! Well designed school buildings support programs and occupant comfort, health and safety through innovative approaches and sustainable design. Do you have a project you think deserves the Polished Apple Award?
If so, one of the best opportunities to have your project recognized is to enter the annual CEFPI Washington Chapter Polished Apple Architectural Exhibit. School district planners and directors from across the state, as well as industry partners and architects will be among those viewing the entries at the annual conference in May, 2008. Last year’s Polished Apple winner, Gray Middle School from Tacoma Public Schools and designed by Mahlum, will also be on display.
The jury will select a completed
project as the winner of the Polished Apple Award. Projects in design or construction, and completed projects,
can earn an Award of Merit.
Judging criteria include 1) Responsiveness to Program, 2) Innovative
solutions,
3) Sustainable Design Strategies, 4) Adaptability to changes in educational
delivery,

surrounding community.
Jury membership will include an educator, a school facility manager, and a civic architect.
